Why Is Getting An Early Diagnosis Important?
An early autism diagnosis can make a meaningful difference in your child’s development. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), early identification helps families access services and support sooner. What to Expect with Diagnostic Services
Seeking a diagnosis can feel overwhelming. However, our goal is to make the process as comfortable and supportive as possible for both you and your child. Here is what you can expect.
Screening:
The first step is a screening. This helps identify whether your child may be showing signs of autism. The screening may include parent or caregiver questionnaires, along with observations of how your child communicates, interacts, and plays. If we see patterns that may point to autism, we may recommend a more in-depth evaluation.
Diagnostic Evaluation:
A full diagnostic evaluation gives us a clearer picture of your child’s strengths and support needs. During this process, we spend time getting to know your child through one-on-one interaction. We also gather your input as a parent or caregiver. In addition, we use trusted tools such as the ADOS 2, which is widely recognized in autism assessment.
Our clinicians take time to understand your child as a whole person. The goal is not to work through a checklist. Instead, we want to build a fuller picture that can guide care, therapy, and other next steps.
Meet Our Diagnostic Experts
Dr. Camille Randall
Director of Diagnostics
Dr. Randall brings extensive experience in child psychology and autism diagnostics to Hope Diagnostics. She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Kansas and is a licensed Clinical Psychologist. Most recently, she led child, adolescent, and family services at the St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute. Now, as Director of Diagnostics, Dr. Randall is dedicated to ensuring families receive the expert evaluations and guidance they need.
Dr. Brigid Treverton-Strenges
Diagnostician
Dr. Brigid Treverton-Strenges is a Licensed Psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist. She earned her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Florida and completed her postdoctoral fellowship with UF Health Division of Psychology, Springhill. With a background in School Psychology, Dr. Treverton-Strenges is skilled in conducting assessments, identifying children’s strengths and areas for support, and collaborating with families to advocate effectively for appropriate school services. She specializes in comprehensive psychological evaluations for children and adolescents on the spectrum. Her clinical work is guided by both compassion for families and expertise in evidence-based practices, ensuring children and families receive the best possible care and support.
